Eastbourne’s Chloe Paige has been told she deserves a place in the X Factor final after her appearance at Wembley Arena on Sunday (October 4).
Chloe is now one of the final six female solo acts in this year’s competition and will be mentored by singer Rita Ora in the next stage.
While judges struggled to remember Chloe from her audition several weeks ago, the Eastbourne singer’s a cappella rendition of Amazing Grace saw her heaped with praise.
Simon Cowell said, “When you told me you were going to do that song I thought ‘are you nuts?’ but what you just did there was do a performance that not only makes you deserve a seat, it deserves you a place in the final.”
Nick Grimshaw said, “Wow Chloe. I’ve got to be honest but I didn’t remember Chloe Paige but after that performance I will never forget you again.”
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini said, “This audition tonight told me you don’t need anything to back you, that was you and your vocals telling the audience you have what it takes.”
Following her success at the weekend, the singer appeared on Lorraine Kelly’s sofa on Monday morning (October 5) to speak about her experience on stage.
Chloe said, “I’ve never felt like that before. So much physical anxiety you want to stay in your seat so much. It’s really scary. You just feel so desperate.”
Chloe also spoke about the support she has had from her family in Eastbourne.
She said, “My family are amazing, they are totally my support. They get me through everything, they are on the journey with me and were really excited.
“It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do, I’ve learned so much more than I ever thought, it’s been an amazing journey so far.”
The X Factor continues next Sunday (October 11) at 7pm on ITV, while Chloe will return for the judges’ houses later this month.
