WORK on the first phase of a multi-million pound scheme to replace the entire length of public sewer at the Cuckoo Trail in Polegate is on track.

Despite December’s temperatures dropping to freezing levels and two separate spells of heavy snow, emergency work on the 1.5km rising main, which runs under the Old Loom Mill section of the Cuckoo Trail, has continued uninterrupted.

Some 700 metres of pipe had been laid before Christmas and work on this stretch of the Cuckoo Trail is expected to be completed by Easter.
