An elderly woman killed in a house fire in Eastbourne has been named as Elizabeth Blacker.

Firefighters raced to the home of the 87-year-old, of Darley Road, on Sunday afternoon but she sadly died at the scene, despite attempts to revive her.

One neighbour described her as a ‘lovely lady’ and said residents had been left traumatised by her death.

Mrs Blacker’s family have been informed of her death.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but police say it is not being treated as suspicious.

The full report will appear in the Eastbourne Gazette tomorrow (Tuesday).
