STUDENTS at Willingdon Community School are celebrating success in Maths, after the publication of a very strong set of early entry GCSE results.
The school’s maths department has consistently achieved results which rank in top three per cent of maintained schools in England.
Students take maths early at Willingdon and already 74 per cent of all students in the school’s current Year 11 have achieved a grade at C or above, with 40 per cent achieved either an A or an A*.
When the final results are published in August, the school anticipates it will surpass the 81 per cent A* to C, it achieved in Maths in 2010.
Ian Jungius, head teacher at Willingdon said, “We are delighted with these excellent results which are the result of high quality mathematics teaching and considerable hard work by the students.”
