HOSPICE volunteers were left wet and windswept at a thank you garden party.
St Wilfrid’s Hospice invited its helpers to its Mill Gap Road base to celebrate the last 12 months of working with cancer sufferers and more than 100 volunteers turned up despite the poor weather last Wednesday.
And, at what will be the last such event before the charity moves to its new Kings Drive centre, a host of people were given long service awards after helping for either three or ten years.
Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd was joined by the town’s current mayor Councillor Mike Thompson while the crowd sheltered in a marquee as the rain lashed down.
Guests were treated to music from the Corelli Quartet and Natalie Roberts.
