Eastbourne Borough Football Club is hosting an It’s a Knockout Challenge family fun day on Sunday (July 13).
More than 150 participants will be braving a four-hour course of obstacles, props and water in teams of 10 – although there is still room for three more teams if any intrepid readers would like to sign up.
For the younger spectators there will be rides, an inflatable slide, a bungee run, jousting and face paints.
For the adults, there will be stalls, a barbecue and beer and Pimms tent. There will also be bowls taster sessions for all ages.
The day starts at 11.30am with the first event starting at 12pm. Entry is free to spectators. Eastbourne Borough bosses hope a total of 200 people will take part in the challenge on the day.
One of the teams which has already signed up is raising money for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.
The hospice looks after children and their families, such as the relatives of little Isobel who died in April.
She had complained of a headache and diarrhoea, but then said she was ‘hurting everywhere’ so parents Kerry and Leigh called an ambulance.
Tragically, despite the efforts of her parents and medics, Isobel died later that night. The hospice offered her family use of the Hedgehog Room so the little one could be laid out in a bed for her sisters and parents to say goodbye before the funeral.
