Westminster terrorist name linked to Eastbourne

A name reported to have been used by the man who police say carried out the Westminster terror attack has been linked to Eastbourne.

National news agency the Press Association has reported that Khalid Masood, named by police as Adrian Ajao but born as Adrian Elms, had lived in Eastbourne.

Masood was shot dead by police after an attack in London on Wednesday which has so far claimed the lives of four people and left 40 injured.

The Press Association has reported that the name of Adrian Elms is recorded as having a conviction following an incident in which a man was stabbed in the nose in the driveway of a nursing home in Eastbourne in 2003.

Scotland Yard said Masood, 52, was born in Kent on Christmas Day in 1964.

According to Met Police, he was not under any current investigation but was known to police and had a range of previous convictions for assault, including GBH, posession of offensive weapons and public order offences.

He had not been convicted for any terrorism offences.
