HUNDREDS of pupils enjoyed their sports day despite poor weather.

Around 300 youngsters at St Andrews Infants took part in a host of activities ranging from traditional games like football, running, an egg and spoon race and throwing to less well known pursuits like one involved a parachute.

A spokesman for the school said, “The children were brilliant and had great fun despite the weather – although I am not sure the parents were quite as happy having to stand in it while they watched.

“Our thanks must go to Anne Almeida, our PE coordinator, who organised our sports day and everyone who took part deserves a big well done.”
