HOSPITAL staff are warning people not to pass on the dreaded Norovirus when it strikes over the coming weeks.
Experts at the DGH are predicting that the number of locals suffering from the winter vomiting bug will soon start to soar.
They are urging anyone experiencing the symptoms to stay at home and drink plenty of water – and definitely not visit any friends or relatives being treated at the DGH.
Norovirus is highly infectious and leads to diarrhoea and vomiting, although most people recover fully within a few days.
Tina Lloyd, from the DGH, said, “To help contain it, particular attention to good hygiene measures should be observed.
“It’s very important to wash your hands with soap and water after contact with someone who is ill and after using the toilet.”
