THE RED Cross is hosting an open day to attract more volunteers from people in Eastbourne and surrounding areas.
On Thursday August 25 East Sussex’s British Red Cross team will be on hand to outline the support they provide in the community and will explain how people can volunteer.
The event will also celebrate the extension of the opening hours of the charity’s centre in Latimer Road and the creation of a Community Access Point.
The team will also be manning information points dotted around the town centre.
The Red Cross centre currently provides short term loans of medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, commodes, bed cradles and back rests, and offers advice and support to those in crisis, however large or small that crisis may be.
The centre will also soon include a Community Access Point, offering people the opportunity to obtain information on British Red Cross services available to them within their community.
With promotional support from Eastbourne Job Centre the Red Cross will be offering information on volunteering opportunities for those currently out of work and seeking the chance to learn new skills and enhance their CVs.
Volunteer opportunities are varied and wide-spread so there’s something for everyone.
Even if you can only spare an hour a week, all the support provided is very gratefully received.
