Want to become a district councillor? Find out how...

Do you want to represent your community and make a difference?

An event is being held at Hailsham Civic Community Hall on September 22, from 6pm to 8pm, for anyone who is thinking about standing for election to Wealden District Council in May 2015.

Visitors can learn about the personal and professional support councillors receive to help them in their daily role as community leaders, as well as an outline of the many varied services that Wealden District Council provides. There will also be an opportunity to meet and ask questions of current councillors and officers.

Members of the main political parties in Wealden will be at the events as well as a representative from either Wealden District Association of Local Councils (WDALC) or Sussex Association of Local Councils (SALC) to discuss becoming a town or parish councillor.

Wealden chairman Cllr Brian Redman said, “You will be able to directly influence the decisions that affect your environment and help shape the future of your community and district. Representing your local community is rewarding and provides a great opportunity to give something back.”
