THANKS to Waitrose shoppers, the Eastbourne and Seaford Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme received a £325 cash boost. The Waitrose Community Project gives £1,000 each month to three local charities and the award scheme was one of those chosen.

Chairperson of Eastbourne & Seaford DofE Pat Hearn was delighted with the donation. “The money we raise goes directly towards helping local young people realise their dream to achieve their Bronze, Silver or Gold awards,” she said.

“The Award Scheme is for young people from all walks of life. Our Open Award Scheme enables them to develop and enhance those special qualities and attributes not always tested during the pursuit of purely academic subjects.

“Commitment, enthusiasm and energy is required from all our entrants. They are a credit to themselves and the community.”
