THE TOWNER art gallery is launching its first summer volunteer placement programme to provide successful candidates with comprehensive training, personalised skills development and valuable experience in a leading contemporary art museum.
Enthusiastic individuals are being sought to participate in this new programme which is centred on delivering exceptional visitor services.
Gallery volunteers will be on hand to meet and greet visitors and share information on the Towner building and its renowned collection, exhibitions and events.
Working alongside gallery assistants they will play a vital role in the Towner and its visitor experience.
The Towner will be offering training which will cover all aspects of the front of house role, from customer services, health and safety, disability awareness to guiding tours, education workshops and conservation awareness.
On completion of the programme volunteers from the summer placement programme will be presented with a skills certificate demonstrating their achievements and skills gained – something that will increase their employability in the wider sector in the future.
Applicants should be able to commit to two-and-a-half days per week (including weekends) – this involves two days in the galleries and half a day training each week.
Training starts on July 9 and the placement lasts until September 30.
