Broadcaster David Dimbleby was today (Friday) officially unveiled as the first Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Towner in Eastbourne.

The art gallery will become an independent charitable trust in April of next year, meaning it will be in a much stronger position to secure funding, and David is excited about the projects ahead.

Speaking at the Towner, he said, “It’s a great honour to be asked to do this - I relish my connections with Towner.

“Now, we need to justify the council’s trust in handing it over and I will try to be a Chair as ruthless as I am on Question Time!”
