FOUR students from Sussex Downs Vocational College based in Eastbourne set off to Oxford to compete in the regional heats of WorldSkills (UK) Complementary Therapy competition and returned triumphant.
Three students competed in the aromatherapy competition winning all three top places. Nineteen-year-old Katarina Fonseca, a former Cavendish School pupil, gained first place and was approached by the judges to put herself forward for the live WorldSkills Advanced Beauty Therapy competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2015.
Chloe Stanton, also 19 and a former Willingdon School pupil, gained second place and Kealey Wright, 19, a former Hailsham Community College pupil, third place. Eighteen-year-old Kerryann O’Connor, a former Cavendish School pupil, was awarded first place in the reflexology competition and was commended by the judges for her professionalism.
