Police in Eastbourne are trying to identify a man whose body was found on a bench at Beachy Head yesterday morning (Tuesday).
A passer-by saw the body, on a bench at the war memorial, near the pub at the top of Beachy Head, just before 7.10am.
The man is believed to be in his forties, 6’2”, of stocky build, with brown/greying collar length hair, and no tattoos or identifying scars.
He was wearing a red barbour jacket, a brown fleece, black t-shirt, blue patterned scarf blue jeans, brown walking boots. and had a rucksack with him.
A police spokesperson said a post mortem will take place on Thursday (June 25 ) but at this time officers were not treating the death as suspicious.
“It appears that the man sat down on the bench, at some point overnight or in the early morning, and then sadly died,” said a spokesperson.
