Police are investigating an unprovoked attack on a 64-year-old woman as she walked home in Eastbourne, pushing a shopping trolley.

It happened at about 3.45pm on Friday (November 14) along Lottbridge Drove.

Sussex Police said as the woman walked towards the Sovereign Centre Roundabout, next to Five Acre Field, a young man coming towards her suddenly lashed out and hit her.

She was knocked to the ground and left shocked and dazed. She did not see where the man went and was not aware of him having stolen anything.

Her assailant is described as white, in his early 20s, 5’ 6” - 5’8”, clean shaven, with fair hair brushed back. He was wearing a light-coloured v-neck pullover and appeared ‘neat and tidy’.

Anyone who saw what happened, noticed the suspect or who may have other information is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 1025 of 14/11.

Alternatively they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
