A two-year-old girl was treated in hospital after being trapped in a car at Drusillas Park in soaring temperatures.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the park in Alfriston at just after 2pm on Monday afternoon.

Temperatures had reached close to 30c as firefighters from Seaford freed the young girl. It is not known how long the youngster was stuck in the vehicle.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed that the girl was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton to be checked. A First Responder was first on the scene.

It appears the family accidentally locked their keys and the child in the car.
