CELEBRITIES dropped in to Eastbourne Auction Rooms at the weekend.

Gavin and Stacey stars Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman, who play Gavin’s parents in the British BBC sitcom, took part in a charity episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip for Children in Need.

They pulled up outside the auction rooms in Finmere Road with their antiques experts in classic cars, residents and regular auction-goers watching as they stars arrived in a classic Fiat 500 and a Triumph Spitfire.

They then competed against each other but the results of the contest will only be known when the programme is aired for Children In Need in the late autumn.

Jeannette May, senior valuer at Eastbourne Auction Rooms said, “A good day was had by all and there were smiles all round.

“The result is a closely-guarded secret until Children In Need but should make compelling viewing.”

Jeannette said 11 items where sold off for the charity, including a selection of dinky toys for £65, a French glass dish (£120) and Barabra Streisand’s coat (£100).

Eastbourne Auction Rooms is no stranger to television appearances. Jeannette and her team have featured in Flog It! twice and are now looking forward to their third appearance as part of Children In Need. They were also pleased to support the charity as all the commission-free profits will go to the cause.
