A TEAM of young people in Newhaven have just finished the latest Prince’s Trust Team Programme in association with Sussex Downs College.

The 12-week personal development programme helps unemployed young people gain the skills and confidence to get a job.

It includes a residential week, a community-based project and a two-week work placement.

Young people on the Newhaven Team programme raised almost £400 for Hastings-based youth charity Xtrax through a range of sponsored events, including a sponsored congathon from Brighton to Newhaven.

The team’s work placements was varied and proved to be successful for all of them, with young people working in everything from retail to working in a theatre and marketing to local radio.

The programme also included a week-long residential team building course, which this time was at Broadstone Warren, working with John Diplock and Spirit of Adventure.

One team member, Rhea Burnett said, “The Team Programme has made me see life in a different way and now I want to go down the right path.”
