The annual Tree of Light, which is covered in white lights and ribbons in memory of the town’s loved ones, will be taking its place outside the Congress Theatre on December 7.
The tree – organised by the five Rotary Clubs of Eastbourne – also helps to raise money for a number of charities and over the last 14 years more than £70,000 has been donated to charities.
The event is sponsored by local businesses and last year £6,500 was raised.
Each person dedicating a light is invited to write a message which is put in a book of remembrance and placed in Eastbourne Library available for viewing throughout the year and all dedications are on the website : eastbournetreeoflight.co.uk.
Rotarian Melanie Adams said, “This is a very special event and moving for all of us involved.”
The dedication service will be held at 4pm with readings, a choir and the Salvation Army Band.
Dedications can be made online, by completing forms – which are being distributed locally – or on the day at the Congress Theatre.
Sponsors include PJ Skips, Brewers, Town Property, The Rattonians, Pomodoro Mozzarella, Darley Training, The Lansdowne Hotel and town Rotary clubs.
