There were two road accidents in the Hailsham area this morning (January 14), which police said could have been caused by sleet and snow.

Sussex Police was called to an accident at 6.10am at the northbound carriageway of the A22 just before the Boship Roundabout in Hailsham.

A Renault Laguna had crashed on the road, and a van driver stopped and called emergency services.

The driver of the Renault sustained minor injuries and police cleared the scene by 7.15am.

A police spokesman said there was sleet and snow at the time, but it was unclear whether this caused the accident.

Then at 6.23am, police were called to after a Renault Megane slid onto the roundabout at the top of Battle Road in Hailsham.

Sussex Police arrived at the scene, and cleared the road by 7am.
