Bring the children to the Redoubt Fortress this summer to make use of the Military Training Ground.
Throughout August, the Redoubt Fortress will be taken over by the Military Training Ground and children can take part in all sorts of activities!
They will be met by a Mrs Atkins, who has been at the Redoubt since it was first built, and she will give the children a uniform of their choice to wear as they participate in each activity including Learning to march, Bayonet Training, How To Salute, Grenade Throwing, Monkey Bars, Parachute Landing Fall, Leopard Crawling, How to increase agility and more.
The training ground encompasses aspects of military training that would have taken place at The Redoubt throughout the ages. Once the training has been completed, children have the option to get their photos taken in uniform, for an additional £2, which will be put into a Military Training Ground card to take away.
Cllr Carolyn Heaps said, “What an exciting activity to take the children to in the summer holidays! We are so lucky to have such a historical building here and with all those activities, it is set for a perfect day out!”
Get the children out and about through those summer holidays and explore the cannons and wander the gun platform before visiting the museum and taking part in the museum trail. Take a quiz sheet and follow the clues and questions throughout the museum!
Shadow Cabinet Member for Tourism, Leisure & Sports Services, Cllr Philip Ede said “What a perfect learning activity to indulge in this summer and all for a low cost. Take advantage of the lovely Outpost café at the Redoubt too.”
The training ground is open until August 31 from 10:30 – 4:30 daily. The cost is £2 per child. To find out more visit www.eastbournemuseums.co.uk
