There are delays on the A27 eastbound carriageway at Lewes, after a car overturned this afternoon (September 13).

Emergency services were called at 4pm, after reports of a crash. The fire service was called to the scene as someone was believed to be trapped in a car, but when crews arrived this was not the case.

At 6pm, one lane remains closed, and Sussex Police is at the scene.

This is a separate incident to a crash at Falmer, involving a motorbike in the westbound carriageway, which had caused delays earlier.

UPDATE: As of 6.10pm, all lanes are now open.
