Town set to go to Extremes

Eastbourne is gearing up for two days of excitement and extreme sport as the popular Eastbourne Extreme sports festival returns to the seafront this weekend.

The free annual event will see a series of demonstrations, activities and attractions to test your nerves, while also featuring live music from local bands and the World Cup on big screens.

There action will take place at a handful of locations along Royal Parade, including Princes Park, Fort Fun car park, the eastern promenade, the skate park, Fisherman’s Green tennis courts and nearby beaches.

Councillor Carolyn Heaps said, “We are very excited to host the annual urban free sporting event on our seafront. Eastbourne Extreme is fantastic for all ages and has something for everyone to enjoy. With so many activities, competitions, entertainment, rides and so much more, we are in for a fantastic weekend.”

Visitors can watch the incredible World Slalom Series competition as skaters from all over come to ‘Battle Extreme’, while Fisherman’s Green will host the Bourne Bombshells taking on other skaters from around Europe in the continent’s only outdoor roller derby tournament.

The popular Bus Stop festival returns with a VW and Retro Scooter event welcoming all owners of Beetles, Golfs, Splits, Lambrettas, Vespas, T25s, Variants, Polos, Lupos, T4s and T5s.

Visitors will be wowed by ‘Inspired show team’ who have established themselves at the top of the BMX Stunt Demo team after over a decade of performing shows .

There will also be a chance for people to take part in taster sessions at Spray Water Sports on Sunday or join the Junior yachting racing competition on Saturday from 11am – 3pm.

Music fans will enjoy a whole weekend of entertainment with music starting at 11.15am in Princes Park both days and ending in time for Screen on the Green to show the final World Cup matches.
