An Eastbourne woman who set up the town’s first vegetarian cafe has had a cookbook published.
Jackie Walls opened Miss Walls Back Garden in Grove Road because she felt there wasn’t enough choice for vegetarians in Eastbourne.
Jackie cooks all the food herself and has received glowing reviews from customers, which has boosted her confidence in the kitchen.
As a result she has gone on to compile her very own cookbook called Miss Walls Food: Fresh, whole and healthy.
The book features the many vegetarian dishes Jackie has had on the menu at her cafe.
Jackie is no stranger to running businesses in Eastbourne. She used to own gift shop Lavender on Station Parade some years ago.
However, running her own cafe and preparing food from scratch is a dream come true.
She told the Herald, “For as long as I can remember I have lived a healthy lifestyle and have loved cooking, eating and growing healthy food, but I struggled to find the kind of food that I like to eat anywhere locally.
“We now eat more vegetables than ever before and no matter what you cook there is always another vegetable dish to be discovered so many celebrated dishes are made entirely from vegetables.”
The glossy, hardback cookbook containing Jackie’s varied vegetarian recipes is now available to buy from her cafe in Grove Road.
