A TOWN centre car park is to halve its all-day rates in a bid to attract shoppers and boost the town’s economy.
NCP, which runs the car park in Trinity Trees, is running the cut-price rates as a trial.
It is also pledging to support local trade by introducing a new retail worker’s discount scheme where staff can park all day for £1.
From this week, customers will only pay £2 to park all day. It was previously £4. The NCP says it will make Trinity Trees the cheapest place in town to park.
Aaron Hinton at the NCP said, “We’re delighted to offer visitors and traders a more cost-effective travel option in Eastbourne.
“NCP is continually looking at ways to create a bespoke parking tariff suited to the needs of the area and this trial will help us to find “the perfect fit’.
“After speaking to many local businesses the feedback was clear – cheaper parking for customers and a staff scheme was needed, and would be much appreciated.
“We hope as many as possible take advantage of our new offer so we can continue to support local trade in a tough climate.”
