A town centre bakery and cafe is to close tomorrow (Friday July 1) after more than 43 years.
The branch of Cavendish Bakery in Grove Road is closing but its other bakery in Cavendish Place is remaining open.
A spokesperson at the bakery said, “It is with sadness we are closing our bakery and cafe in Grove Road this Friday after 43 years but hope people will find us at our other bakery in Cavendish Place.
“The bakery opened in Grove Road as Saffron Patisserie by Cliff and Maureen Bennett on July 3 1973.
“It was later re-named Cavendish Bakery when the family acquired a further bakery in Cavendish Place and we like to think we’ve earned a great reputation.
“Much has changed in 43 years however and as other areas of our business grow and the landscape of Little Chelsea evolves, it is time for us to close at Grove Road. A big thank you to all our lovely and loyal customers over the years – please come and find us in Cavendish Place and online.”
