Toploader reform for charity gig

CHART-TOPPING Eastbourne band Toploader are reforming this year – and their first major gig will be in their home town in August.

Toploader, who had a string of hit singles including Dancing in the Moonlight and Achilles Heel, will be playing a special concert at the seafront bandstand on August 29.

Frontman Joe Washbourn said, "Toploader are back and what better way to say thank you to all of our fans than with a special gig here in Eastbourne.

"The ICU at the DGH is a cause that's particularly close to my heart and I'm thrilled that all profits from the concert will go their way.

"We're all really excited to get back together and can't wait to get back out there and start performing again."

Five years after splitting up, the band are now ready to take their own mix of feel-good rock back on the road with a series of appearances at the festivals plus this one-off gig for charity.

With the band originally hailing from Eastbourne, they are keen to give something back to their home town and have chosen the seafront bandstand as the venue for a special concert with all proceeds to be donated to the ICU at Eastbourne DGH.

As well as the big hit singles that made the band so popular, fans can look forward to enjoying an early taste of Toploader's new album that's due to be released at the start of 2010.

And there will also be support acts, as yet not announced.

Tickets will be on sale from June 1 online from E-shop, over the counter at the Tourist Information Centre and Seafront Office, or by telephoning 410611. All tickets will be 15.
