Eastbourne’s Jason Sarna, the head greenkeeper at Brighton & Hove Golf Course, is celebrating after winning an award for Greenkeeper of the Year at the prestigious Pro Shop Europe Industry Awards 2013.
The star-studded awards ceremony, the Oscars of the UK golf industry, took place on November 7 at the world renowned Wentworth Golf Club, Surrey and was hosted by leading golf trade publication, Pro Shop Europe.
Representatives from a diverse range of functions within the industry, including PGA professionals, sales agents and greenkeepers, were there in black tie and evening dresses to celebrate the great and the successful in the industry.
Retired World Cup rugby star Neil Back hosted the awards.
With hundreds of entries, each nominee for the 2013 awards was judged by a panel of independent industry experts.
Nominated for his tireless dedication which has transformed both the course and the club, Jason was also praised for his ability to save the club money during these tough economic times whilst still vastly improving the golf course.
Jason said, “Since joining Brighton & Hove Golf Club it has been a constant challenge battling budgets, machinery, not to mention Mother Nature herself all while working with a skeleton crew.
“But I am very passionate about my work and am really pleased to be recognised and receive such a great accolade.”
