THE SEA end of Terminus Road is set to be transformed into a bustling market each Wednesday morning.
The town’s new street market is being launched this Wednesday (August 1) from 9.30am.
The market will initially operate on the stretch of Terminus Road that runs from the seafront to TJ Hughes – with almost 30 stalls at the inaugural launch.
Stallholders will be selling cheese, fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, pies, cakes and pastries, clothes, jewellery, crafts, homeware, flowers, children’s toys, books, gifts and photography.
Tim Tradewell, chair of the Eastbourne Independent Traders, market organiser and co-owner of the Secret Garden shop in Terminus Road, said, “I am delighted that the dream of a new quality street market in Eastbourne Town Centre is almost a reality.
“I am so confident it will boost trade in our town and I really hope Eastbourne’s residents come out in force to support this great community project.”
Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd added, “Wednesday August 1 is an ideal start date, as I’m sure the many thousands of visitors in Eastbourne will also come to the market, which will help to get it off to a flying start.
“I would urge as many local residents as possible to come along to support this new venture. I know that in Eastbourne we are all committed to transforming our town centre, and this is a great opportunity to really show we care about our town’s future.”
