Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old girl was assaulted in Eastbourne last Wednesday.
The victim was walking through a park in Old Towm on the footpath between Sancroft Road and Longland Road when a man stood in front of her, close to a bench.
He touched her face and leg before being interrupted by a man who shouted out, enabling the victim to leave the park and report the incident to police.
A police spokesperson said: “The man has been described as about 50 years of age, white, of broad build, with a gruff voice and smelling of alcohol. He is thought to have been wearing a green anorak.
“Although not physically injured, the victim was understandably severely shaken by what happened.
“We are appealing for witnesses to this incident - which isn’t being linked to any others in the Eastbourne area - and would particularly like to speak to the man who shouted out in the park as he may have significant information to give.
“Any witnesses should contact DC Phil Cracknell from East Sussex CID on 101, quoting reference number 1662 of 7 November.”
