The Station Parade entrance to Eastbourne station is now permanently closed to make way for a new taxi rank.
The changes to the station car park sees the 20 minute short stay parking and the disabled bays removed.
While two disabled parking spaces have been lost in the changes, nine others are available on the opposite side of the station near the Enterprise shopping centre.
To access the car park drivers must use a new entrance on Commercial Road, which is now open.
Drivers picking up or dropping off passengers can use the bay on Ashford Road.
The work is expected to take several months to complete.
Taxi Driver Emin Ozcam, 48, said, “It will be much better once its finished. Now people don’t pay attention to the signs , stop here and block the entrance.
“I saw a woman stuck in a disabled space for 45 minutes because a bloke stopped in front of the entrance and walked off.
“People ignore the signs because they don’t want to turn around and take another five minutes.”
In addition to the taxi rank the work on the station will bring a new car park entrance and dedicated walkway, a cycle hub offering improved cycle facilities, as well as new seating in the passenger lounges.
The old entrance and extra bays closed on August 16.
