BIRTHDAY girl Nellie Parsons was serenaded as she turned 104 by 12-year-old Eastbourne’s Got Talent winner Carl Parsons.

Carl sang numbers including, of course, Happy Birthday and We’ll Meet Again at the Palm Court Hotel bash.

Nellie also invited fellow members of East Sussex Disability Association and Eastbourne mayor Carolyn Heaps to celebrate her special day.

Nellie was born on January 29, 1908, in Tower Hamlets and married in Shoreditch Church in 1929.

She moved to Eastbourne in 1939 and worked as a nurse at St Mary’s Hospital for 14 years, before moving into private nursing. She retired at the age of 75.

For many years Nellie volunteered with the ESDA Eastbourne District Committee as an escort and helper. She is now the group’s oldest member.

With the help of friends and neighbours Nellie maintains an independent lifestyle and is still in her own home getting out and about with the ESDA Eastbourne District club on their monthly outings.
