CARE home residents have won first prize in a nationwide art competition.
Elderly people living at the Emily Galloway Care Home in Silverdale Road beat off stiff competition in the contest sponsored by The Works and won art materials worth £100.
They submitted their Diamond Jubilee crown making efforts and Alex Green, head of eCommerce at The Works told the artists, “You were chosen from some amazing entries; however, the panel voted your entry the best.”
Their teacher Michaele Wynn-Jones said, “I am delighted for them.
“They love their art classes and to win a national competition has confirmed that you are never too old to have some fun, be creative and prove to everyone that you are a winner.
“Two of the ladies are over 100 and we won the over 16s class.”
The residents have been attending regular art classes at Emily Galloway for several years.
