THE EURO 2012 football season may be just around the corner but players from England took on Switzerland in a match in Eastbourne.

The Saffrons was the setting for the match between footballers from Eastbourne College and their Swiss opponents, who were visitors from Wirtschaft und Kaderschule kv Bern. The Swiss visitors were on an annual Business English course at Eastbourne College, arranged by two Eastbourne international student organisations working in close partnership, Study Link Europe and ELAC Study Vacations.

Eastbourne College captain Harry Clarke said, “From start to finish, the game was played at a very fast, competitive yet courteous pace.

Swiss captain Nino Mueller said, “We enjoyed the opportunity to meet the English team, who came back to school especially in their holiday to meet us. Considering that Eastbourne College is known as a rugby rather than a football school, we congratulate our British friends who did really well to score three goals against a semi-professional team of Swiss.” The final score was 4-3 to Switzerland.
