THE COFFERS of the Sussex Air Ambulance have been given a cash boost from Eastbourne Lions.

Lions president Alison Cairns handed over a cheque for £500 at its recent monthly business meeting to Mal French from the Sussex Air Ambulance.

Mal gave a speech on the overview of the work of the air ambulance and the costs of running the service 365 days a year.

The service, which can reach a casualty within 20 minutes, costs around £8 million a year in operating costs.

The money was raised through a draw by the Lions Club, which raises money to assist many local charities and good causes.
