AN EASTBOURNE doctor’s surgery has been given an award by the National Campaign for Courtesy.

The Grove Road Surgery was put forward for the award by Eastbourne resident Edward Thomas who said he nominated the staff because of the polite way he has always been treated there.

He said, “My own GP, Dr Bruuns is first rate in his manner. Then last year I was invited to a couple of check-ups because of my age group and received the most courteous treatment from a Nurse Kim, whom I specially selected for mention. All of the same can be said for the reception staff and I wanted them all to receive recognition if only because of the brickbats that are addressed to people like them in the front line. I thought it was long overdue to redress the balance.”

The staff were presented with the award by Peter Foot, the chairman of the National Campaign for Courtesy, and Mr Thomas was also present.
