SPECIAL needs students at Sussex Downs College in Eastbourne have designed a new shed to build at an allotment site on Gorringe Road.

The students have been working on the project since November, creating models of the shed from scratch which they will pass to the carpentry and joinery students at the college who will build the new feature at the allotment.

Tutor Jacqui Macquisten-Barrow who teaches the students said, “The enthusiasm and ideas the students have shown has been amazing and I am very proud of their achievements.

“It is also fantastic to work with the other students at the college in carpentry to help enhance a community site - a testament to the impact that Sussex Downs has on the whole of Eastbourne.”

The project is part of the entry course, where the students also learn skills in English and maths.
