Staff and students from the University of Brighton in Eastbourne, a team base for the South African rugby team, posed with the famous Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup when it arrived in Sussex on its whistle-stop tour around England.

Sarah Hogg, the university’s director of sport and recreation, said, “The opportunity to be so close to such an iconic trophy was inspirational for our students and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But we were under strict instructions not to touch it!”

The Eastbourne campus and Eastbourne College will be used by twice-winners South Africa in the run up to the start of the tournament next September.
