Students’ open evening at Sussex Downs College

SUSSEX Downs College in Eastbourne will be opening its doors to potential students on Thursday, November 3.

Both Park College, Kings Drive and Eastbourne Vocational College, Cross Levels Way will be open.

No appointment is necessary as people are just being asked to turn up between 5.30pm and 8pm.

College chiefs say it is a great opportunity to find out about new courses on offer at the college designed to get people into the world of work or into higher education.

The open events are for those students who wish to start at the college in September 2012. Would-be students and parents will be able to find out about the wide variety of courses on offer including A levels, vocational studies, apprenticeships and diploma courses. It is an opportunity to view the college facilities with staff and students on hand to answer any questions.

There will also numerous student demonstrations and Have a Go activities where visitors will be invited to have a go at practical activity.

These will include Barista coffee making, napkin folding for gala dinners, hairdressing tonging hair, beauty hand and arm massage, travel quiz, laying a row of bricks, creating a carpentry joint, practice painting and pipe bending for plumbers.

People can also race solar-powered model racing cars, have a go at CAD drawing and see how much cycling effort is needed to make a bulb light and operate computer games written by students.
