A teenage girl is organising a music and dance show to raise money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in memory of her grandfather.
Kirstin Blakemore is single-handedly putting preparations in place for the event, which she has called ‘M.A.D Youth Tribute’ and will be held on Friday, October 24 at 7pm.
The 15-year-old said, “My reason for the use of the word ‘tribute’ in the title is because in May earlier this year, my grandfather, Torbjørn Winge, died from a brain tumour, 11 months after being diagnosed.
“St. Wilfrid’s Hospice was amazing and supported him throughout the whole 11 months, which is why I want to raise as much money as possible for them.
“I would also like to raise money for a local hospice that supported my friend when he lost his mother at the age of eight – his mother spent her last few weeks at Cransley Hospice in Kettering.
“The school hall can hold 200 people and it is my intention to fill this room. I am seeing a lot of positive response from my fellow students and friends and I believe the youth will pull this off in great style.”
The show will be held at Manor School Sports College and tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
For those unable to make the event but who still wish to support Kirstin’s work for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, visit her Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/madyouthtribute.
Kirstin hopes to raise at least £500 for the two hospices.
