Sainsbury’s Hampden Park has announced that Guide Dogs Association Eastbourne and Pevensey as its Local Charity of the Year.

Guide Dogs Association Eastbourneand Pevensey offers a range of life-changing services to people living with sight loss. The charity’s services help people to do the simple things that sighted people often take for granted, like getting to work, popping to the shop for groceries or meeting friends for coffee and a chat.

This year’s Local Charity scheme began at the end of May, when colleagues shortlisted a maximum of three charities to be put forward to the customer vote. Guide Dogs Association Eastbourne and Pevensey received the most votes and will receive a year’s worth of fundraising and awareness-raising from the store.

Marian Williams from Guide Dogs Association Eastbourne and Pevensey said, “We’d like to thank everyone who voted for us.

“Becoming Sainsbury’s Hampden Park’s Local Charity of the Year will make a huge difference to our charity.

“We’re looking forward to the partnership and working closely with the colleagues at the Hampden Park store.”

Mick Ingledew, store manager at Sainsbury’s Hampden Park, added, “I’d like to say congratulations to Guide Dogs Association Eastbourne and Pevensey.

“It’s great to be working with a new charity this year. My colleagues are really excited about the partnership”.

The local charity scheme is now in its eighth year and has raised more than £11 million to support local charities.
