THE FIRM building a new Morrisons in Eastbourne joined forces with the local council to refurbish Hampden Park Community Centre.

The RG Group, which is leading the construction on Lottbridge Drove, got in touch with Eastbourne Borough Council to offer to help with the community project.

Walls and a small kitchen have now been repaired and decorated, doors and frames replaced, carpet and vinyl laid throughout and electricians have checked and re-wired lighting and fire alarms.

The site will now be equipped with a suite of computers to host IT courses and act as a local internet hub. In total, RG Group, Morrisons and several other sub-contractors have invested £5,000 in the scheme.

Lorraine Lambert, Chair of the Hampden Park Community Association, said: “I would like to thank RG Group for realising the importance of community centres. They have been extremely generous.”
