More than 800 people attended the Winter Garden last week for the St Wilfrid’s Hospice Lights of Love event.
They gathered in the Floral Hall to celebrate the work of the hospice and remember those cared for over the last 29 years.
St Wilfrid’s was completely overwhelmed by the amount of support shown at their annual Lights of Love Celebration; an event which was markedly different this year.
Christine Clark, events administrator at St Wilfrid’s, said, “This was the first year that Lights of Love was held as a single large event and we were delighted that so many of our supporters travelled to celebrate with us.
“The evening was full of reflection, remembrance and was very uplifting.”
There were performances from Natalie Roberts Performing Arts Group, the Trafalgar Trio, Seaford Primary School and Ratton School Choir. Poems written by hospice patients Pam Hughes and Janet Walsham, were read too. They were about the personable, caring and thoughtful nature of the St Wilfrid’s medical staff.
As part of the St Wilfrid’s Hospice Lights of Love Celebration people can sponsor a light on the hospice Christmas tree in memory of a loved one. Anyone who chooses to make a donation will be a sent a silver heart which can be hung on their tree at home.
