AN ARMED Forces event last week helped raised awareness for servicemen and women past and present as well as £1,317 for charity.

Eastbourne Coach Finishers held a static sponsored bike ride throughout the day and sold special cupcakes. Staff covered 162.5 miles during the day with paintshop foreman Paul Griffin cycling 12.1 miles in his 30-minute slot winning the best individual prize. The money will be handed over to Graham Turner, an RAF paramedic, and fellow servicemen for Heroes in August.

Russell Turner, managing director, said, “Our special thanks go to Ben Underwood at Lloyds Health & Fitness Club at Hampden Park for loaning us the bike for the event and a special mention must also go to Eastbourne mayor Mike Thompson for turning up to support the day.”
