Sovereign WI - May meeting report
THE May meeting opened with our president welcoming members and one new visitor. The theme of our meeting was to vote on the Resolution being discussed at the annual general meeting in London.
The decline and plight of the honey bee could cause worldwide mayhem and the government is promising funds to research the problem.
The need for this money to be used in the best possible way is what needs to be discussed and what many of us started out thinking was a lightweight resolution soon changed when the implication of having no bees to pollinate the reproduction of our food chain was explained more fully to us. The resolution was voted in favour and Dorothy Padgham will be taking our vote to the AGM.
The Evergreen Singers provided a lighter touch with songs from top London shows which we all enjoyed.
Sovereign WI meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at Christ the King Church Hall in Princess Road, Eastbourne. Do come along and join us.
