Southern laying on extra trains for the Olympics

MORE TRAINS will be laid on between Eastbourne and London during the 2012 Olympics.

Southern is to provide more than 86,000 extra seats during the Olympic and Paralympic Games because of the high number of passengers using its services.

They will run additional late-night services from London Victoria to Eastbourne and to increase capacity, is adding carriages to many off-peak services.

There will be longer trains and additional late-night services from Monday, August 13, to Tuesday, August 28, and between Wednesday, August 29, and Sunday, September 9.

Southern has used data provided by the Olympic Delivery Authority which provides postcode information from ticket sales to plan the service changes. Extra Southern staff and Southern volunteers will also be available to help at busy stations throughout the Games period.

The 12.05am Victoria to Eastbourne train Tuesday to Sunday will be re timed to depart from Victoria at 12.40am and tun as a 12-carriage train rather than an eight carriage one.
