THE ALZHEIMER’S Society is teaming up with the local NHS Trust to offer advice and information on dementia.
A roadshow event will take place in Eastbourne next month.
Staff will be on hand to offer advice on dementia diagnosis, the help available to people affected by dementia, as well as their families and carers, and how to maintain an independent lifestyle if you are diagnosed with dementia.
Angela Broomfield, a health promotion specialist for the NHS in East Sussex, said, “We have a much higher proportion of older people in the county than many other parts of England, and that also means that we do have a higher prevalence of cases of dementia.
“That is why it is important that we make local people aware of dementia, including the importance of getting an early diagnosis, and what help and support is available locally for those affected.
“Whether you’re after some basic advice, or more detail on specific services, we’ll be pleased to help.”
Angela and her colleagues will be at the Eastbourne Arndale Centre on Thursday, February 3, between 9.30am and 4pm.
Information and advice from the Independent Living Service and Age Concern will also be available.
