REVELLERS at Herstmonceux Castle stepped back in time over the bank holiday weekend during the historic venue’s medieval festival.

The three-day long event included a siege displays by the Medieval Siege Society, with members re-enacting what it would have been like it years gone by when castles were under attack.

Organisers expected thousands of people to attend over the course of the weekend and, although the weather was not at its best, those who did go looked to have a smashing time.

Among the other attractions were bowmen, a medieval market and jousting from more than 2,000 costumed performers from all over Europe and as far as Canada and the United States.
